Lax for the Cure took place June 25-27 for the 2027-2029 graduation classes. The event was held at Allentown High School and New Egypt High School, both in New Jersey. Lax for the Cure youth took place on June 19-20 for the 2030-2035 graduation classes.

"Lax For The Cure was founded by Jessica Shoulberg, CFO of STEPS Lacrosse LLC, Former State Champion and Coach of the Year at Mendham High School and member of the Inaugural Women's Lacrosse team at Notre Dame.

During the summer of 2007 The STEPS Lacrosse club had 3 mothers fighting breast cancer. Jessica's concept came from the notion that with the growth of girls lacrosse and summer tournament circuit, that an opportunity presented itself to start a tournament that would meet the ideals of players, parents, clubs, and college coaches. The goal was to ultimately find a way to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.

Jessica's husband, Charlie Shoulberg, founder and CEO of STEPS Lacrosse, and former Asst. GM of the US Men's National Team contacted The Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation. Komen embraced the idea that one of the fastest growing demographics of well educated, motivated, and pro-active young women are playing lacrosse" (Lax for the Cure).

This year they raised over $6.1 million for breast cancer.

In a battle between some of the best goalies in the Class of 2028, Susie McElheny went up against Ella Bacallao's Prime Time team. Prime Time got the best of Eagle Stix 9-5, but McElheny proved why she is one of the best goalies in her class. McElheny makes opposite stick side low saves look easy. She drops low extremely quickly, and her athleticism shined. McElheny is also extremely comfortable on free position shots; they don't faze her. On one possession, she was 1v1 with a shooter, and she made an incredible save on the doorstep. She is always in a great position. I wrote in my notes, “this is why she is one of the top goalies in this class.”

Ella Bacallao makes amazing saves off eight meters. Her reaction time is super impressive. When Bacallao plays, everyone around notices how great a player she is. Shots can come high or low, and it doesn't matter. Goalies that stand out drop to the ground very quickly to make a save. Bacallao does that at an elite level.

Ray is all over the field. She is scrappy and hustles. The midfielder loves to get ground balls. She hails from Wilton (Conn.) and plays for Prime Time. Ray is very fast and quick. She can finish the ball off the eight meter. This is a fun recruit to put on your recruiting board because she is valuable, and she could develop into a very good player at the next level.

Castrechini is one of the best draw takers in her class. She won three self-draws in the first half against Hero's. Extremely quick hands for the Fairport (N.Y.) native. Against Eagle Stix, she had five self-draws in the first half. It will be interesting to see if college coaches try to sell her on being a draw specialist at the next level. She can literally change the output of a game. Aces Elite beat Eagle Stix 7-5, and she had a huge part in it.

Corcoran is a very shifty dodger. One of the shiftiest players I've seen this summer, literally weaves in and out of defenders. She gets downhill easily. With two seconds left in the 1st half against Eagle Stix, she had an amazing catch off a cut with a quick release for a goal. On Day 2 against Prime Time, she fired off a great on-the-run shot.
