To kick off November, Riley Kennedy and I traveled north to the Nutmeg State this past weekend for Sound Lacrosse's East Coast Fall Showcase, held Nov. 1 at Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, Connecticut. Coaches from some of the nation's best Division I programs were on hand Sunday, leading small-group sessions with athletes from the 2028 through 2031 classes before taking the sideline during games.

Following up on my previous article, East Coast Fall Showcase Takeaways: High-Ceiling 2029s and 2030s, I want to dig into more 2029s who shined Sunday in Greenwich.

Stay tuned for more coverage from Riley and me throughout the week.

Coaches List:

YALE - Colleen Smith

BOSTON UNIVERSITY - Jake Versprille

COLGATE - Alyssa Guido

COLUMBIA - Emma Munchnik

CLEMSON - Landyn White

FAIRFIELD - Caroline Mangan

JACKSONVILLE - Haley Warden

JOHNS HOPKINS - Jillian Girardi

NOTRE DAME - Caroline Curnal

PITT - Jennifer Poretto

RUTGERS - Livy Rosenzweig

UCONN - Katie Frederick

UMASS - Katie Moses

Playing on her home turf at Greenwich Country Day, [player_tooltip player_id='74072' first='Jaden' last='Sutter'] caught my eye early. Sutter thrived in a two-way role at midfield Sunday, and as she enters the thick of her recruiting year, she checks a lot of the boxes coaches look for at the position. She is long and athletic, and she put both to use in the full-field games with a great take to the cage from straight on. Sutter has a good feel for the game offensively. If defenders give her space, she will get downhill and do damage, absorbing contact well and finishing from different levels and release points to keep goalies guessing. On top of it all, she plays a gritty brand of 1v1 defense and can turn defense into offense in a hurry. Sutter has a ton of upside, and I think she will be on the boards of some notable Division I programs.

Speaking of players who check the boxes physically, Lucia Dersch is another one I liked on Sunday. A Long Island native, Dersch uses her strength and size to get downhill and finish over the top of goalies, and she has a big shot that she can unload with precision from range. She doesn't need the ball to make a difference offensively, either. In fact, her work away from it may be her greatest strength, as she showed off well-timed, explosive backdoor and slip cuts to get to the cage. I like Dersch's game a ton, and her ceiling is tremendously high. A sophomore at Garden City, she looks poised for a big season this spring with the Trojans.

Sound Lacrosse has had no shortage of standout defenders come through the ranks over the past few seasons, and 2029 Madeline Treacy looks like the next one. Treacy plays defense with a mean streak, and her physicality in open space stood out most Sunday. In 1v1 crease drills, she gave every attacker she faced fits. On one rep, she poked the ball free, and when the attacker tried to box her out to resecure it, Treacy used her length to go up and over the top and come away with it. In the full-field games, her effort between the 30s as a clearing defender caught my eye. Treacy was one of the better defenders I saw Sunday. She has tremendous upside as either a pure defender or a defensive midfielder.

A dual-threat attacker from New York, Paige Lapides was sharp from the morning sessions through the afternoon games in Greenwich. She has great offensive instincts and a lacrosse IQ well beyond her years. On one possession, she found space just beyond the 8-meter arc and held it, calling for the ball before stepping down into a heater that beat the goalie. On the next possession, she drew the slide and hit a drop-off pass for an easy assist. She consistently made the right read with the ball in her stick. After putting on an offensive clinic Sunday, Lapides is a player I'm eager to see more of this fall with Monster Elite.

One of my favorite goalies from a strong crew of keepers Sunday was Gold Coast's Ellen D'Amura. She was rock solid throughout the drills and full-field games. At 5'7”, D'Amura naturally takes up a lot of vertical real estate in the cage, but it's her ability to track the ball through traffic in tight that allows her to come up with some big-time saves. She does a nice job of staying square to the shooter and stays engaged through long possessions, constantly moving on her arc to cut down the angle. Playing goalie at a showcase can be an unforgiving role, but D'Amura embraced it. She is on track to be a four-year starter at Fairfield Warde in Connecticut, and she will be a well-seasoned veteran in the cage by the time she gets to college. She has a ton of potential, and I believe much of it remains untapped.

Following up on my previous article, East Coast Fall Showcase Takeaways: High-Ceiling 2029s and 2030s, I want to dig into more 2029s who shined Sunday in Greenwich.

Stay tuned for more coverage from Riley and me throughout the week.
