One of my favorite goalies from a strong crew of keepers Sunday was Gold Coast’s Ellen D’Amura. She was rock solid throughout the drills and full-field games. At 5’7”, D’Amura naturally takes up a lot of vertical real estate in the cage, but it’s her ability to track the ball through traffic in tight that allows her to come up with some big-time saves. She does a nice job of staying square to the shooter and stays engaged through long possessions, constantly moving on her arc to cut down the angle. Playing goalie at a showcase can be an unforgiving role, but D’Amura embraced it. She is on track to be a four-year starter at Fairfield Warde in Connecticut, and she will be a well-seasoned veteran in the cage by the time she gets to college. She has a ton of potential, and I believe much of it remains untapped.
