Lacrosse Masters: High Academic D1 Standouts

Lacrosse Masters, hosted by Tim McDonnell, kicked off its girls lacrosse camp series on June 9 in Farmington, Connecticut, with the 6th Annual Girls High Academic Division I Summer Recruiting Prospect Camp. Representing some of the nation's most selective universities, coaches from Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Harvard, Michigan, Notre Dame, Princeton, Stanford, Penn, Vanderbilt, and Yale were in attendance. Every school represented has an acceptance rate below 20%, with most admitting fewer than 10% of applicants each year.   Here are the standouts:    Ella is a tall, athletic midfielder who uses her 6'1” height to her advantage on cuts, draws, and drives. She reads the defense effectively and communicates consistently on both ends of the field, particularly on the draw circle. Her self-awareness and height make her a strong presence in transition and in re-defend.   After speaking with Ella, it is clear she is a dedicated athlete and supportive teammate. She shared that her passion for lacrosse was inspired by her father and grandfather, both of whom played at Johns Hopkins University. She credits both her height and competitive mindset as factors that push her to continually improve. As a draw specialist who embraces playing on both sides of the field, Ella brings versatility, athleticism, and a team-first mentality that make her a valuable contributor.     Hadley is a fast and strong attacker with good crease roll, quick first dodges, and a hard shot with good placement. She reads her defenders well, knowing when they will bite, and uses her speed to her advantage. When feeding, she is very active, keeping her head up and listening to her teammates. Overall, Hadley is a high-IQ player with a strong mentality.     McIntosh is a versatile player with strong offensive and defensive IQ. She has a quick dodge, a hard yet accurate shot on goal, a good handle in pressure situations and when catching hard-to-catch passes, strong footwork, and gritty defense. She also shows high IQ, good draw instincts, and tracks the ball well. Overall, McIntosh is a very strong player who can play any position and perfect it.     Kafoury is a strong midfielder who has a strong shot, high IQ, quick transitions, strong IQ on checks, solid slides, and strong communication. She pushes the ball upfield with speed. She looks to feed whenever she can, and times her cuts to throw her defense off, and she is gritty on the draw circle, going for any and every ball. Overall, she is a strong two-way middie who definitely makes an impact on the team with her high energy and decision-making.     Potrzeba is an aggressive attacker with strong dodges and the ability to work effectively around the crease. She is also competitive on loose balls and is often first to the ball. Not only is she an exceptional player, but she is also an all-around athlete competing for her high school's field hockey and alpine ski racing teams.
