About Ella

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a 6'1" Draw Specialist and Midfielder, my gameplay style is to utilize my height and lax IQ to best help my team get possession and cut to goal. With my height, it's easy for me to see where we have open opportunities and help direct traffic so that we can get to goal.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm a super positive person and I have a fun personality and I can talk to anyone. My teacher told me that "you can get a brick wall to talk".

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm very involved in school and clubs - I'm the VP of the SGA, National Honor Society, Discovery Academy (helping kids with disabilities), Riverview Rowdies (school spirit), and DECA (business club).

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I think my best skill is my lax IQ which has really developed me into a leader on my club team and I'm often able to communicate on the field to move the ball and see opportunities, and my extroverted personality allows me to really help making sure my team works well together and I get everyone hyped up and excited.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I've been lucky not to have any major challenges, but last summer I did too many events and got a foot injury that I had to heal up over 6 weeks. I realize that the most important thing I can do is to treat my body the same way I want to play. I really have made a focus on strength training, stretching and nutrition to make sure that I'm prepared for a lot of events.

What type of college are you looking for?

Great team culture and environment and have strong competition in lacrosse - i would love to win a national championship one day.

Berzins is a midfielder who plays high school ball in Florida, and flies on a plane to play club ball for Coppermine in Maryland. She was one of the best players at this Lacrosse Masters event. She is a dominant draw taker and can easily win the ball to herself. Berzins can rip shots from the outside. She can also finish inside and has a quick release on her shot. Berzins is a strong and tough player. She works great off-ball. Her face dodge is lethal, which allows her to get by her defender. Berzins’ change of speed running the floor mixed with her 6’1” frame makes her extremely dangerous.
