The next stop in my regional 2029 scouting series brings us to the Northeast, a region that has emerged as one of the country's most prolific girls lacrosse hotbeds. Programs like Thayer Academy, Darien, and Sacred Heart Greenwich consistently fill the rosters of top Division I programs. At the club level, Mass Elite, Laxachusetts, Prime Time, Sound, CT Grizzlies and Gold Coast have become nationally recognized pipelines despite operating out of smaller states. The Class of 2029 looks to continue that tradition, with several of the class's top names calling the Northeast home. Here are some of the top 2029s from the region worth keeping a close eye on.

One of three 2029s currently playing on the 2026 USA U17 National Team, two of whom hail from Massachusetts, [player_tooltip player_id='86773' first='Wells' last='Hanna'] is certainly a name to know. Hanna is a defender who can mark up on a team's number one option all game, whether that is a bouncy attacker back at "X" or a powerful downhill dodger up top. She has the footwork and frame to either match step or play big when the matchup calls for it. Hanna is a true transition stopper. She moves with a proprioceptive awareness in open space that most 2029s have not developed yet; her feet are always in the right place before the play gets there. I truly believe Hanna is one of the most well-rounded and polished defenders in the class of 2029. Exceptionally strong on the clear, she can cross the restraining line and initiate the offense without missing a step when an offensive midfielder gets caught on defense. She knows how to use her strength to get downhill, either finishing or finding the open teammate.

One of two Connecticut stars selected to the 2025 USA U15 National Team, Carolina Reidy is an athletic lefty two-way midfielder from Darien, one of the state's most established lacrosse hotbeds. Reidy is a true matchup problem with or without the ball. A good initiator from up top, she is always hunting the dump off on the doorstep after drawing the slide and can pick apart a man defense or a zone with equal effectiveness. She does not stop moving without the ball and actively reads the defense as the play develops. She especially stands out between the thirties, where her workhorse mentality and willingness to do the dirty work make her a true two-way midfielder. A gritty defender with good positioning, she vacuums up ground balls off the turf and takes off in transition in a hurry. Loves to play quick and get downhill. Reidy has the makings of a blue-chip prospect.

Another dangerous CT Grizzlies lefty, [player_tooltip player_id='86940' first='Holly' last='Hogan'] is a name top Division I programs should be buying stock in now. A player with true star potential, she is a smooth operator capable of getting to her spot at “X” and picking apart her matchup. Hogan is as crafty as they come, reminiscent of 2028 Kate Wood in her ability to fake and finish at a low angle coming above GLE. She should not be slept on as a midfielder either. Versatile and a strong initiator from up top, she can mark up defensively when needed and is a dangerous dodger from anywhere on the field. She naturally draws a lot of defensive attention with her scoring ability. Buy stock now in what looks to be another top Connecticut name.

Avni Patel technically calls New York home, but she plays her prep school and club ball in the Northeast with Greenwich Academy and Sound Lacrosse, and she is too good a name to skip over in this series. Like Hogan, if this were the stock market, the buy signal on Patel is flashing. She is a player on the verge of a true breakout, not just in Connecticut and New York but across the sport. Explosive and shifty, she is not afraid to let it fly when she gets topside either direction. She has a devastatingly quick release, able to free her hands and unload a shot that sits in the mid-to-upper 70s. Few 2029s are as shifty and explosive. Give her a runway at “X” or up top and watch good things happen. She moves with a balletic quality coming above GLE, with spin moves through traffic that look almost effortless. Calm amidst chaos, she is an excellent feeder who pulls off passes that make you sit back in disbelief and wonder if she has eyes in the back of her head.

A New Hampshire native who plays her club ball with Mass Elite, Devon Wilson is a lot of fun to watch. An “X” attacker with a rare combination of strength and agility, she loves to take it deep behind the cage and bully her way above GLE by taking the shoulder. Standing at nearly 6'0", she has the ability to finish high over the top of most defenders but has the agility to fire low at deceptive angles. She fights through contact well and can get her hands free despite the relentless on-ball pressure she typically faces. Calm amidst chaos coming above GLE, she is a slippery off-ball player who can float from “X” inside the eight-meter arc for an easy step-down despite her height. She understands time and room well when shooting. Wilson has only played lacrosse for three years and is truly only scratching the surface of what she can become. Keep a close eye on her as her recruiting year gets underway.
