Lax for the Cure: Standouts Turning Coaches’ Heads

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lax for the Cure took place June 25-27 for the 2027-2029 graduation classes. The event was held at Allentown High School and New Egypt High School, both in New Jersey. Lax for the Cure youth took place on June 19-20 for the 2030-2035 graduation classes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"Lax For The Cure was founded by Jessica Shoulberg, CFO of STEPS Lacrosse LLC, Former State Champion and Coach of the Year at Mendham High School and member of the Inaugural Women's Lacrosse team at Notre Dame.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>During the summer of 2007 The STEPS Lacrosse club had 3 mothers fighting breast cancer. Jessica's concept came from the notion that with the growth of girls lacrosse and summer tournament circuit, that an opportunity presented itself to start a tournament that would meet the ideals of players, parents, clubs, and college coaches. The goal was to ultimately find a way to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jessica's husband, Charlie Shoulberg, founder and CEO of STEPS Lacrosse, and former Asst. GM of the US Men's National Team contacted The Susan G. In close, she made big-time stops and put her body on the line. She communicates very well, and you can hear her all over the field. She had a really nice right to left split dodge down the left alley that she scored. Madelyn is everywhere on the field. She clears the ball very well. She is scrappy for ground balls. She gets out quickly adjacent to defend and plays good 1v1 defense. Hardy is a good initial dodger to kickstart an offense; she can get downhill. She can split through a double. Her stick skills are good. On defense, she flies around. Towards the end of the game, she checked a player's stick so hard her own stick broke. She had a great step-down rip off the eight-meter against Prime Time.
