Lacrosse Masters: Day 2 Standouts

Lacrosse Masters, hosted by Tim McDonnell, kicked off its girls lacrosse camp series on June 9 in Farmington, Connecticut, with the 6th Annual Girls High Academic Division I Summer Recruiting Prospect Camp. Representing some of the nation's most selective universities, coaches from Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Harvard, Michigan, Notre Dame, Princeton, Stanford, Penn, Vanderbilt, and Yale were in attendance. Every school represented has an acceptance rate below 20%, with most admitting fewer than 10% of applicants each year.    The attacker from Maryland gets off really tough shots. She is a good finisher from down low and mixes in good fakes to get the goalie to bite. She has different release points on her shot; she can shoot overhand, sidearm, and underhand. On one offensive set, she made a great pass, fading away off her back foot to the inside to her teammate.     Brown plays for Florida Select and American Heritage Delray (Fla.). The midfielder is a very quick and under control dodger who makes defenders miss her. On two different possessions, in the same game, she split through multiple defenders and got the goal. The second time she did that, I sat there and shook my head. She is very impressive, the way she can weave through the defense. Brown also fights hard for ground balls and comes in off the circle.     Shissler wants the ball in her stick. She is a quick dodger who gets downhill and down the alley. The NXT attacker can also pull out an inside roll that she showcased in one of her games. Shissler has a nice overhand shot in her bag.     Chuntz is a lefty attacker from Long Island, New York, who plays high school ball for Syosset and club for IL Top Guns. She can shoot the ball. Chuntz had a nice underhand rip in one of her games. In the same game, she had an excellent backhand shovel shot. Off-ball, she makes really nice cuts.     The midfielder traveled to Connecticut from Portland, Oregon. She played aggressive 1v1 defense. Kafoury can defend very far out by the football numbers and maintain aggressive control without getting beat. She also gets her stick up in passing lanes and plays angles well.
