Vanderbilt looked to Florida to secure their first commitment in the class of 2028 in Hunter Brown. A shifty two-way midfielder with great speed, Brown is constantly hunting back checks on the redefend and always seems to be around the ball. She has a natural feel for the game and can turn defense into offense in a hurry. On a team that likes to push the pace, Brown is the ideal piece to add, and Vanderbilt certainly fits that mold.

Brown is an athletic, high-IQ player who is quick, strong on draw, and relentless. She handles pressure well, drives hard to the goal, has strong fakes and dodges, and places her shots well on the cage. Defensively, she reads the offense, anticipates passes, creates knockdowns, communicates well, and causes turnovers with positioning and timely interceptions. She also knows when to read the defense, cut hard, drive to the goal, or keep her head up to find an open teammate for an assist. Overall, she is a selfless player with grit, determination, and the ability to impact the game in multiple ways.

Brown plays for Florida Select and American Heritage Delray (Fla.). The midfielder is a very quick and under control dodger who makes defenders miss her. On two different possessions, in the same game, she split through multiple defenders and got the goal. The second time she did that, I sat there and shook my head. She is very impressive, the way she can weave through the defense. Brown also fights hard for ground balls and comes in off the circle.
