Next On Deck: 2028 Upstate N.Y. Attack to Watch

The Upstate New York region is a hotbed for talent in women's lacrosse. There is no question that eyes will be on these 2028 attackers this spring as they enter their big recruiting summer.    Cummings brings great energy to how she plays the game. She is a strong left-handed dodger who has zero hesitation under pressure. Cummings is able to maneuver through heavy traffic, finishing with a great shot selection in whatever opening she has free. She is a great transitional player, where her athleticism shines. She is able to push the pace of the ball in transition and hit a teammate once she draws the slide for fast break goals. She also plays on the draw circle, where she uses her speed and body positioning to win 50/50's.     Ryan is an incredibly well-rounded attacker. While she has great vision to feed paired with the ability to effectively dodge and shoot from virtually any angle, it's other pieces of the game that set her apart. Ryan's strategic off-ball movement demonstrates her incredibly high IQ. She is deceptive and purposeful with her movements. She can be seen waiting for the split-second defender head turn for her to expose the opportunity. She is a grinder on the ride, able to cause turnovers and make interceptions just to turn around and convert to a goal.     Fitch is a right-handed attacker who thrives as a dodger. She is incredibly athletic and shifty, which leads to consistent success in blowing by both 1v1 defenders and help slides. She can often be seen threading multiple defenders and getting a high-quality shot off in traffic. She shoots on the run with either hand with the same confidence. Her top-notch athleticism allows her to blow by players in transition and ride effectively. Fitch is an energy-changing player. Her presence on the field, especially in pivotal moments, provides a spark that others follow.     Hedden, a right-handed attack out of Victor, NY, is a diverse offensive player. From X, Hedden is equally as comfortable dodging and driving over a defender as she is slipping under them, making it nearly impossible for defenders to force her where they want. She uses her body well to seal and protect her stick, virtually never allowing a backcheck. She's a confident shooter, changing up her shot selection and release points with ease. Although Hedden is an exceptional driver, she does so with her head up and can feed on a dime. She is a player who, when the game is on the line, you want the ball in her stick. Hedden's style will undoubtedly attract a lot of attention this summer.     O'Brien is arguably the strongest left-handed attacker in Upstate, NY. Meaghan is lethal from X and the elbow alike. She is an incredibly twitchy style dodger, making it very hard for defenders to predict her movements. The second her hands are free, the ball is out of her stick with either an incredibly well-placed shot or a feed to a teammate. O'Brien is confident shooting from any angle, distance, or shot style. As remarkable a shooter as she is, one could say the same for her feeding vision. She is a team-oriented player, looking for the best opportunity for the team first before herself. She excels in setting herself and teammates up for success, both on and off the ball. O'Brien is a game-changing player. There is no doubt that she will be one of the top players in the country to watch heading into the summer season.
