To kick off November, Riley Kennedy and I traveled north to the Nutmeg State this past weekend for Sound Lacrosse's East Coast Fall Showcase, held Nov. 1 at Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, Connecticut. Coaches from some of the nation's best Division I programs were on hand Sunday, leading small-group sessions with athletes from the 2028 through 2031 classes before taking the sideline during games.

In my final installment, I wrap up my coverage with a mix of positions and classes, from established 2029s to a 2031 already turning heads.

Coaches List:

YALE - Colleen Smith

BOSTON UNIVERSITY - Jake Versprille

COLGATE - Alyssa Guido

COLUMBIA - Emma Munchnik

CLEMSON - Landyn White

FAIRFIELD - Caroline Mangan

JACKSONVILLE - Haley Warden

JOHNS HOPKINS - Jillian Girardi

NOTRE DAME - Caroline Curnal

PITT - Jennifer Poretto

RUTGERS - Livy Rosenzweig

UCONN - Katie Frederick

UMASS - Katie Moses

Adding to the long list of Darien standouts from Sunday, [player_tooltip player_id='90209' first='Olivia' last='Morici'] is a shutdown defender in every sense, and one of the better ones I've seen this busy fall. She plays a smothering, aggressive style of defense that wears her assignment down physically and mentally. That was especially true in open-space 1v1s on Sunday. She looked more impressive with each passing rep. Morici flies around the field defensively, sliding with ill intent to pick up and knock dodgers off their line. The CT Grizzlies have quietly assembled one of the more impressive 2029 teams. I wouldn't be surprised to see them knock off some top-10 and even top-five clubs this fall and next summer. Morici will be a big reason why.

[player_tooltip player_id='90216' first='Raffaella' last='Pansino'] was one of the more impressive 2031s I saw on site Sunday. A Sound Lacrosse product, Pansino is an attacker and midfielder who played with girls up to three years older, and she looked right at home. She is a fearless shooter who will pull the trigger from wherever, whenever. She generates a lot of power, especially for a player who is only in eighth grade. Pansino also embodies a next-play mentality, shaking off a miss or a big save and letting it fly again. Her confidence against the older crew was palpable. She has a high ceiling, and I'm eager to see how she handles high school lacrosse next season. I look for her to burst onto the scene.

[player_tooltip player_id='90212' first='Sofia' last='Bravo-Ferrer'] was one of the best players I saw Sunday. She is a smooth operator with a deep bag of moves, but her split dodge is truly unfair. In one instance, she hit a left-to-right split to get to her strong side, got her hands free, and uncorked one from midrange. Her release is incredibly quick, and she can fire from different levels and release points. She doesn't need the ball to make an impact, either, whether she is exploding backdoor or setting hard picks and rolling to the cage. Bravo-Ferrer has one of the more complete offensive games in the class, and her tenacity on the defensive end only adds to it. She is a baller.

I really liked what I saw from Sound Lacrosse's very own Adriana Perez on Sunday, and she only got better as the day went on. In the morning's sideline-to-sideline games, she floated inside the 12-meter fan for a nice time-and-room rip. She holds her space well when open, calling for the ball and unloading. Perez also capped off the event in style with one of the more memorable plays of the day, finishing with a twizzler in tight in the final full-field game of the afternoon. Her ability on the draw adds to an already strong profile. As a freshman at Rye Neck, Perez scored 50 goals. Not to mention, she is a three-sport varsity athlete. Perez oozes athleticism and explosiveness.

2030 goalie Alexis Applefield showed some strong flashes during Sunday's event. Late in the afternoon in the full-field games, she made a really nice lunging save on her stick side, then popped right back up and hit a teammate in stride up the sideline with a 25-yard outlet before the ride could get set. Applefield is a strong decision-maker on the clear, and she turned some key saves into offense for her team Sunday. She is another name I'll be keeping an eye on over the next few seasons.
