2028 Midfielders: From Team USA to Top Division 1 Recruits

The Class of 2028 features an outstanding group of midfielders who can control games at both ends of the field. Ranked No. 24 nationally by Prep Girls Lacrosse, Goodenough is an exceptional two-way midfielder whose speed, athleticism, and versatility show up everywhere on the field. She is incredibly intentional with her offensive movement, constantly working off-ball and using perfectly timed backdoor cuts to make defenders pay for overplaying her. With the ball, her quick first step, creative dodging, and strong stick protection allow her to weave through defenses and attack the 8-meter with confidence. Goodenough is equally impressive on the draw, whether winning it to herself or making a clean catch and finish after securing possession. Defensively, she is a force who can knock down passes, deflect 8-meter shots, and immediately turn stops into offense. A member of the 2025 and 2026 U17 USA National Team, she is one of the most complete midfielders in the class.     Ranked No. 16 nationally by Prep Girls Lacrosse, Ellis is a highly productive two-way midfielder whose speed can completely change the pace of a game. She finished her sophomore season with an incredible list of stats: just short of 100 goals, 60 assists, 130 draw controls, 60 caused turnovers, and 80 ground balls, demonstrating her influence in every phase. Ellis is especially dangerous in transition, where her speed, elite stick protection, and powerful pull dodge make her extremely difficult to slow down. She cuts with purpose, places her shots exceptionally well, and delivers feeds at exactly the right moment. Her quick feet and sharp changes of direction complement her size, while her defensive production proves she is much more than an offensive threat. She is a smart, reliable, and consistent presence who can be trusted in any situation.     Ranked No. 49 nationally by Prep Girls Lacrosse, Eikenberg is a tall, relentless midfielder who consistently finds ways to impact possession. She is a force on the draw circle, attacks every loose ball, and seems to be the first player to ground balls throughout the midfield. When driving to goal, she combines a quick change of direction with the strength to handle pressure, but she also recognizes the double and selflessly finds the open teammate. Eikenberg's defensive positioning, footwork, and well-timed slides make her extremely dependable on that end of the field. She also brings tremendous effort to the ride, where she will track down ball carriers and fight to regain possession.     Whipple is a shifty and explosive midfielder who plays with nonstop energy. Her quick feet, deceptive shot, and ability to use her body to protect her stick make her incredibly challenging to contain in space. She can initiate offense herself, slip through defenders and finish, but she also sees the field well enough to set up an open teammate. Whipple plays like an Energizer Bunny, constantly moving and forcing opponents to keep track of her wherever she goes. That same speed fuels a relentless ride, as she refuses to give up on a possession and will run directly through pressure to win the ball back.     Ranked No. 36 nationally by Prep Girls Lacrosse, Ray is a dynamic and versatile midfielder whose hustle allows her to make an impact all over the field. Her split dodge is smooth and explosive, highlighted by a rapid change of direction and fluid stick work that allow her to run circles around defenders. She combines those dodging skills with excellent shot placement and the ability to create offense in several different ways. Ray is also a major asset on the draw circle, where she attacks loose balls like a vacuum and consistently helps her team earn possession. Her scrappy defense, ground ball effort, and unwavering consistency make her the type of player who strengthens every unit she joins.
