On the draw, Mellinger tracks the ball well and competes hard for pressure. She has a strong ride and creates those momentum shifts for her team, especially on the circle. 

She’s the kind of player who brings grit, energy, and unselfish play. She is an all-around player, and while some of her palsy may not show up on a stat sheet, you can see her efforts on the field.

Mellinger has played an important role in creating offensive opportunities for her teammates this season. She demonstrates the ability to distribute effectively while maintaining a scoring threat herself. Her passing has helped open shooting lanes within settled offensive sets. Mellinger frequently initiates sequences that lead directly to quality scoring chances. She also contributes by maintaining tempo and keeping opposing defenses rotating throughout possessions. In transition, she advances the ball efficiently to create early opportunities. Her versatility as a playmaker adds another dimension to her team’s offensive approach.
