2028 National Watch List: Names Coaches Should Call

It has been a busy start to September for the class of 2028, with commitments rolling in essentially every hour. For as much talent as has already decided on their future programs, there remains a plethora of high-upside players that Division I programs should be looking to add. The talent still on the board is strong, and it will not stay that way for long. Check out the free spreadsheet to see the latest commitments.</a>    La Costa Canyon has long been known as a West Coast powerhouse that consistently produces Division I recruits who go on to have impactful careers. They look to have another one in Sunday Nelson. An explosive pure attacker, Nelson has great footwork and is a twitchy dodger who loves to fake high and finish low off the crease roll to her strong side. She has true blow-by speed coming above GLE. Any doubts about her size are quickly erased when watching her draw and absorb contact. If she cannot finish through the contact, she will likely earn a trip to the eight-meter arc for a free-position attempt. On top of it all, she is relentless on the ride, scrappy and unafraid of contact in open space. Nelson has a high ceiling and is a player who should not be uncommitted for long.     From the Lone Star State, Paige Hill is an intriguing prospect who should pile up respectable Division I offers as this recruiting cycle progresses. She has established herself as a dominant draw taker this summer while showing flashes of becoming a force as a two-way midfielder. She has great speed out of the circle after winning the draw, able to spark the offense and get to the cage in a hurry before a defense can set. Perhaps what is most intriguing about Hill is her freshness to the sport. You can count on one hand the number of years she has been playing lacrosse, and despite not coming from a traditional hotbed, she has made a name for herself in a region that has produced very few Division I recruits. This is a player with a truly limitless ceiling, and college coaches who have not yet seen her play should not make the mistake of passing on Hill. The untapped potential is real.     Another prospect from a non-traditional hotbed with high upside, Henley Wismer is a tall, versatile player whose primary position is still to be defined. She got run this summer as both a draw-taking two-way midfielder and a high attacker. In the draw, she uses her height to win it over the top. In settled play, she stands out as a slippery off-ball player with exceptional finishing ability. She is a player who must be marked up and accounted for at all times, crafty with her shots off the feed and capable of changing the angle and freeing her hands in a hurry. One of her best skill sets is on the change of possession. Wismer is a ball hawk on the ride, making clearing a four-quarter nightmare for opposing goalies. Stick her on the goalie and watch her go to work, and she will even pick off interceptions from goalies who try to launch a long clear over the top.     Better known as Jesse, Abigail Cargiuolo is a pure defender from northeastern Massachusetts. A relentless on-ball defender, her stature should not be underestimated; she is a feared defender often tasked with shutting down a team's number one option. She is reminiscent of Syracuse's Kaci Benoit in the way she flies around the field. Typically on crease patrol, she does a nice job of getting low and working “X” attackers wide when they try to make their move above GLE. A scrapper on ground balls with great straight-line speed, she gets to and digs up loose balls off the turf in a hurry. Cargiuolo is a player you can assign to shadow a number one scoring threat all game and watch her eliminate them from play. This name will not stay uncommitted for long.     One of northeastern Pennsylvania's best, Morgan Davis is a can't-miss prospect from Clarks Summit. Coming off a season in which she reached triple digits in goals in a strong PIAA conference, she is a lethal scorer who knows how to get to her spots and finish like a high-level player. The game has slowed for her; she dictates the pace rather than reacting to it. She has worked at attack but shows the makings of a draw-taking, two-way midfielder at the next level, doing a lot of damage off the draw and in transition. She possesses a devastating change of speed and the ability to stop on a dime before accelerating past an overcommitting defender. College coaches should not overlook Davis. The program that lands her is getting a hidden gem from the Keystone State.
