West Coast 2028s: Who’s Off the Board?

September 1 is the first day Division I coaches can officially contact 2028 recruits, making it a highly anticipated day for the recruiting process. Once September 1 hit, top players from all over the country announced their commitment to play at the higher level. Here are 5 players from the West Coast who are off the board.    Horn is a righty attacker, currently ranked No. 42 in the Class of 2028 by Prep Girls Lacrosse and committed to Brown University. She is strong with both hands and can rip shots from either side. Horn has a wide variety of shots, making her unpredictable on the offensive end. On the 8-meter, she has a powerful step-down shot. She also has good timing, cutting inside the 8 at the right moments for quick feeds and goals.     Leonard, currently ranked No. 72 nationally in the Class of 2028 by Prep Girls Lacrosse, is committed to Northwestern. A powerhouse attacker, she is strong both on and off the ball. She times her cuts with precision, constantly finding open space for easy feeds that result in goals. In front of the cage, she finishes her shots with accuracy and speed, making her a reliable scorer for her team. Her dodges are powerful, allowing her to beat defenders and create open looks at goal. She can also feed, delivering well-timed passes that create offensive opportunities.     Roman committed to East Carolina University. She is a midfielder/defender who excels at any spot on the field. Roman utilizes her speed on defense to disrupt the other team's offense, causing turnovers and intercepting passes. She consistently wins 50-50 ground balls, gaining possession for her team. In transition, she's reliable, using her speed and stick skills to get the ball safely down the field. Roman also finishes her shots in front of the cage.     Rufo-Hill is staying on the West Coast, committed to the University of Colorado. A true two-way midfielder, she reads the entire field well. She is good at tracking the ball on the draw, using strong stick skills and speed to secure possession for her team. She draws defenders and delivers quick feeds that create scoring opportunities. In front of the cage, when she gets her hands free, she can fire off a quick release and find the back of the net. On defense, she is disciplined with strong footwork, slowing down opposing attackers.     Kelly is committed to Marquette University. She has sharp, direct dodges that get her good looks at the cage. She does a great job protecting her stick through contact, helping her get quality shots off in tight spaces. She keeps her eyes up on offense, connecting with teammates and creating offensive opportunities. Kelly also has a strong sidearm shot.     Petro is committed to Liberty University. She plays with urgency that will translate well to the fast-paced college game. Petro is a strong cutter, finding open space and showing patience that leads to open goals. She can score from anywhere in the 8, whether she's shooting from distance or finishing through pressure on the crease. She also works hard on the re-defend, applying pressure that forces mistakes and creates turnovers.
