The Section III Class A Championship delivered everything fans could have hoped for from one of Central New York's premier rivalries.

After falling just short against Cicero-North Syracuse in last year's championship game, West Genesee returned with unfinished business.

Momentum went back and forth. West Genesee came out strong, building an early and confident lead, but C-NS responded with a dominant run to erase the deficit and take an advantage into halftime.

Both teams fought neck and neck. Then, in the game's biggest moment, West Genesee found the answer it had been searching for since last year's heartbreak. A late offensive push resulted in the game-winning goal with under a minute remaining, securing an 11-10 victory and the Section III Class A Championship.

Now, let's take a look at the standout players who helped power West Genesee to a sectional crown.

When the biggest moments arrived, [player_tooltip player_id='72897' first='Sophia' last='Lawrence'] delivered. The Temple commit opened the game with a goal in the first minute and continued to show up all game long for West Genesee to win the thrilling championship. Standing at 6-foot, Lawrence is a force in the draw circle and consistently gives her team extra possessions. Her ability to control draws, attack downhill, and finish with either hand makes her one of the most dangerous players on the field. Lawrence's dodging ability immediately stood out as she routinely created separation and put defenders on their heels. Finishing her career with more than 530 draw controls and 175 goals, including over 70 goals this season, Lawrence cemented herself as one of the premier players in New York. Temple is getting a competitor who influences every aspect of the game, from consistently winning the draw to immediate offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='73147' first='Keira' last='Vrabel'] was a constant spark for the Wildcats' offense throughout the championship matchup. The Bryant commit showcased polished stick skills with both hands and displayed excellent composure whenever the ball found her stick. Whether attacking from behind the cage or working in tight spaces around the crease, Vrabel consistently found ways to create offense. Her powerful 8-meter shot, sharp stick protection, and ability to finish from multiple angles made her difficult to contain. What stood out most was her poise under pressure. Every time she touched the ball, the offense seemed to flow through her as she facilitated opportunities and created chances for teammates. In her big championship game, she reached the 100th career point milestone as a testament to her consistency and offensive production throughout her career.

One of the younger players on the field, [player_tooltip player_id='73148' first='Reagan' last='Koch'] played with the confidence and composure of a veteran. The sophomore defender was exceptional in transition, repeatedly picking up ground balls and immediately turning defense into offense. Her speed between the 30s was impossible to ignore, as she routinely outran opponents and helped West Genesee gain valuable field position. Koch's physical style of defense forced turnovers and disrupted offensive possessions, while her relentless motor allowed her to impact the game from start to finish. She is quickly becoming one of the most promising young defenders in the area. College coaches should keep a close eye on her development.

[player_tooltip player_id='73149' first='Kaelyn' last='Stone'] made her presence felt all game long from behind the cage. The Marist commit is a crafty attacker who excels at creating opportunities from X and keeping defenses guessing. Stone's shiftiness and shot placement were on full display as she found openings and capitalized on scoring opportunities. She has proven herself as a reliable contributor within the Wildcats' offense. Stone's lacrosse IQ and ability to make plays helped generate momentum for her team throughout the championship contest.

[player_tooltip player_id='71825' first='Gianna' last='Puccia'] continues to prove that size has little to do with impact. The sophomore midfielder was instrumental in helping West Genesee capture the sectional title, including scoring the game tying goal that set the stage for the Wildcats' dramatic finish. Quick, intelligent, and relentless, Puccia constantly found ways to contribute in every phase of the game. Her speed through the midfield allowed her to create transition opportunities. Puccia has established herself as one of West Genesee's most productive underclassmen. Her all-around game and ability to impact winning make her a player to watch for years to come.
