About Sophia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a gritty 2 way midfielder who capitalizes not only on scoring but also by making stops on the defensive end and assisting to my teammates.I focus my time on training and becoming a stronger and faster athlete. I run in my free time and I also play Varsity field hockey. I have always been a multi sport athlete and i believe it makes me a more well rounded athlete and person.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a fun and bubbly person who always finds ways to cheer other people up. My biggest supporters are my family and friends who are always by my side when i need them. My mentality in lacrosse is that miss 100% the shots you don’t take. What helps me clear my mind before game is good self talk and never getting down on myself. From starting on varsity as an 8th grader, i have grown as a person.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in my town youth lacrosse program where i help coach the younger girls. I love teaching them the sport that i grew to love at their age. I am in all honors with a weighted gpa of 4.3 and in national juniors honors society.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed qualities such as leadership and accountability when it comes to making sure my team is at there best and when it comes to coaching younger girls that are in my responsibility. I have grown in my social skills when talking to parents and learned the importance of polite and kind conversations through the sport.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Some challenges I face is being shy or not confident when attacking the net. I have struggled previously with not feeling confident when i have a chance to dodge and immediately passing it when i know i can go. I have overcome this by working on my dodges so im more confident in them and giving myself good self talk with specific goals in mind when going into a game.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that can not only provide a good academic education but also a challenging lacrosse program. I am looking to play in the south and my main goal for when i get to college is to pick a school that i know will grow and i would like to be apart of that school because i know they can help me reach full potential.
