Clara McCormick was everywhere this weekend, and you would be hard pressed to find a better overall athlete from the tournament. She played seven forty-minute games in a short weekend span and did not lose a step. McCormick regularly makes head-turning plays she has no business making. She had a handful of leaping interceptions and knockdowns on the long clear, and hustled and outworked opponents all weekend on ground balls. She can cover ground in a hurry with long strides to get in position to make a play on the ball, and her athleticism and agility are among her best attributes. She dodges with intent offensively and can finish in a variety of ways and from different angles and release points. She should not have to wait long come September to find a home with a high-level Division I program, and she projects as a two-way midfielder who earns meaningful minutes in the early days of her collegiate career.

The Maryvale Prep (Md.) midfielder can get downhill and weave through the defense. Against Team Upstate, she made a great drive and dumped it to a teammate on the crease and got the assist. Against Team Philadelphia, she made a great righty face-dodge and got the rack and scored. In the same game, she ran the ball in off the 8-meter. On the clear, she is automatic and will get the ball across.

Clara McCormick impacts the game in nearly every phase. She battles relentlessly on the draw circle, fights for loose balls, and consistently gives her team extra possessions through hustle and determination.

Her offensive game is built around quickness, elite stick protection, and outstanding body control through traffic. McCormick catches and finishes in tight spaces as well as anyone in this class, often redirecting passes into the back of the net before defenders can react. Even with multiple defenders collapsing around her, she finds creative ways to finish or make the extra pass. Defensively, she plays with strong positioning and disciplined footwork while remaining active throughout the game. Her endless motor, versatility, and ability to contribute in every area make her one of the most valuable young midfielders on Maryvale’s roster.
