Speaking of players who check the boxes physically, Lucia Dersch is another one I liked on Sunday. A Long Island native, Dersch uses her strength and size to get downhill and finish over the top of goalies, and she has a big shot that she can unload with precision from range. She doesn’t need the ball to make a difference offensively, either. In fact, her work away from it may be her greatest strength, as she showed off well-timed, explosive backdoor and slip cuts to get to the cage. I like Dersch’s game a ton, and her ceiling is tremendously high. A sophomore at Garden City, she looks poised for a big season this spring with the Trojans.
