Lacrosse Masters: High Academic D3 Attack Standouts

Lacrosse Masters, hosted by Tim McDonnell, hosted its girls lacrosse camp series on June 16-17 in Farmington, Connecticut, with the 10th Annual Girls High-Academic D3 Prospect Camp.   Several attackers separated themselves through their ability to impact possessions beyond the stat sheet. From aggressive riders creating turnovers to feeders finding teammates in tight spaces and finishers capitalizing around the crease, these players showed the offensive skill sets and competitive mentality that college coaches value.   Here are the standouts:    Claire is a quick attacker who immediately stands out because of her speed and ability to beat defenders with her split dodge. She does a great job getting defenders off balance and uses her quickness to create opportunities offensively. Even though she may be smaller in size, she plays with confidence and is not afraid to attack defenders one-on-one. Her speed allows her to be dangerous in transition and puts pressure on opposing defenses.   What also stood out was her effort away from the ball. Claire works hard in the ride and consistently pressures defenders trying to clear the ball. She plays with energy and competes for possessions, making her an attacker who contributes on both ends of the field. Her hustle and willingness to create turnovers add another dimension to her game.     Reese is a strong finisher around the crease who does a great job using fakes to beat goalies. She looks comfortable attacking from the crease area and shows good touch around the cage. Her ability to stay composed around the goalie helps her finish quality scoring chances.   She also contributes in other areas of the field. Reese works hard in the ride and throws clean checks to create pressure on opposing defenses. Her ability to contribute offensively while helping create turnovers makes her a valuable two-way attacker.     Lily was one of the most aggressive riders throughout the day. She constantly pressures ball carriers and always seems ready to throw a check. Her effort around the restraining line stood out because she consistently made opponents uncomfortable and worked to create turnovers.   Offensively, Lily can attack the cage herself but also showed good vision as a feeder. When defenders commit to her, she is willing to move the ball and find teammates. Her combination of aggressive defense and offensive awareness allows her to impact the game in multiple ways.     Amy does a great job attacking underneath and getting to dangerous areas around the cage. She uses strong dodges to beat defenders and is comfortable taking defenders 1v1. Her ability to attack space allows her to create scoring opportunities for herself while keeping pressure on the defense.   What stood out was her ability to make good decisions when help arrived. Instead of forcing shots, Amy showed good vision and willingly moved the ball to open teammates. She balances being both a scorer and a facilitator, which makes her difficult to defend and valuable within an offense.     Olivia's effort level is one of the first things that stands out. She rides hard, competes on draws, and works throughout every possession. She constantly looks to help her team gain extra possessions and does many of the little things that impact the game.   Offensively, Olivia helps organize the offense and creates opportunities for teammates. She moves the ball well and understands how to help create quality shots even when she is not the one finishing the play. Her work ethic and willingness to compete make her an important contributor.     Madison is the type of attacker who takes advantage when defenders give her space. If she gets her hands free, she is confident stepping into shots and can really rip the ball. Her shooting ability stood out immediately, and she consistently looked dangerous around the cage. She does a great job getting her stick free and isn't hesitant to take opportunities when they are available.   She also showed toughness when finishing under pressure. Madison can catch difficult passes and finish even with defenders collapsing around her. In addition to her offensive abilities, she works hard in the ride and puts pressure on defenders trying to clear the ball. Her effort level and scoring ability make her a complete attacker.     Sadie showed excellent vision throughout the day and consistently found teammates in good scoring positions. She does a great job seeing the inside of the defense and looks comfortable feeding from tight spaces. Rather than forcing passes, she waits for defenders to commit before making smart decisions with the ball. Her ability to read the defense allows her to create quality opportunities for her teammates.   She also showed patience and confidence with the ball in her stick. Sadie understands how to manipulate defenders and uses her vision to keep the offense moving. She tests defenses and looks for openings rather than rushing plays, which makes her a reliable offensive player and facilitator.     Sasha is very effective around the crease and does a great job using the right crease roll to create opportunities. She is comfortable operating in tight spaces and consistently puts herself in good positions near the cage. Her ability to attack from the crease makes her difficult to defend.   She also showed strong decision-making when defenses collapsed. Sasha can finish opportunities herself but also does a good job facilitating for teammates when help arrives. She keeps the offense moving and makes smart decisions with the ball in crowded situations.
