NY: Cicero-North Syracuse Standouts in Section 3 Class A Final

Cicero-North Syracuse once again showed why it has been one of the top programs in Section III, battling until the final seconds of an intense championship matchup against rival West Genesee.   Although the result did not go their way, CNS showcased plenty of talent, toughness, and playmaking ability until the final whistle. Falling short by one goal, Cicero-North Syracuse proved why they deserved to compete for this game.   Let's take a look at the standout performers from the Northstars.    [player_tooltip player_id='46869' first='Miabella' last='Gates'] was the offensive engine for Cicero-North Syracuse throughout the championship matchup. The highly touted attacker finished with four goals, repeatedly finding ways to keep the Northstars within striking distance. A Prep Girls Lacrosse 5-Star, Gates showcased why she is considered one of the top players in her class. Whether operating from X or finishing in front of the crease, her shot placement and finishing ability stood out. She consistently found open space, capitalized on fast-break opportunities, and delivered under pressure. Her ability to read the defense and position herself in scoring areas helped fuel the Northstars' offense throughout the game. With more than 150 career points in just three varsity seasons, Gates will have a great career at Penn State.     [player_tooltip player_id='72896' first='Elizabeth' last='Smith']'s impact was felt all over the field. The North Carolina commit displayed elite stick skills, quick feet, and outstanding vision throughout the contest. A five-star recruit, Smith excels at making difficult plays look effortless. Her stick seemed magnetized to the ball, whether she was securing draw controls, navigating traffic through the midfield, or creating opportunities for teammates. Smith's ability to see developing plays before they happen allows her to facilitate offense at a high level. She also showed her scoring touch with a smooth finish around the cage. Finishing her high school career just shy of both 300 points and 300 draw controls speaks to the complete player she has become.     [player_tooltip player_id='73178' first='Sophia' last='Graham'] brought speed, athleticism, and energy every time she stepped on the field. The Yale commit was dangerous in transition, routinely bursting through the midfield and creating opportunities for herself and her teammates. Her first step is explosive, making her difficult to contain when attacking downhill. Graham showcased strong stick protection, sharp decision-making, and excellent field awareness throughout the game. Whether pushing the ball in the clear or attacking from the offensive end, she consistently generated momentum for the Northstars. Finishing with a goal and an assist, Graham played a significant role in helping keep her team competitive until the final whistle. With just three varsity seasons, she has had 79 goals, 90 ground balls, and 163 draw controls to prepare her for the next level.     One of the younger players on the field, [player_tooltip player_id='73180' first='Taylor' last='Errante'] showed maturity well beyond her years. The freshman defender impressed with her speed, composure, and ability to transition the ball upfield. Her 1v1 defense stood out throughout the game, as she consistently stayed in front of attackers and disrupted offensive possessions. Errante's field awareness and stick protection allowed her to clear the ball effectively and help initiate transition opportunities for the Northstars. A relentless ground-ball competitor, she repeatedly came away with loose balls and turned them into positive possessions. With her athleticism and defensive instincts, she has the tools to develop into a standout defender at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='73179' first='Sloane' last='Raymond'] continued to show why her future is bright despite being one of the youngest players on the roster. The freshman contributed two draw controls in a high-pressure championship environment and demonstrated confidence whenever the ball was in her stick. Raymond's quickness and shiftiness allow her to weave through defenses and create opportunities on the offensive end. Although she did not find the score sheet, her impact extended beyond goals. She showed a talented sidearm release that can catch goalies off guard in times of need. With 16 draw controls and 19 ground balls already this season, Raymond is a young player whose development will be exciting to follow.     [player_tooltip player_id='73181' first='Ryleigh' last='McLauchlan'] demonstrated why she is such a valuable piece of the Northstars' offense. The LeMoyne commit displayed strong lacrosse IQ, active off-ball movement, and reliable finishing ability. Her quick-stick goal highlighted her awareness around the crease and ability to capitalize on opportunities in tight spaces. McLauchlan is an excellent cutter who consistently finds openings within the defense, making herself available as a scoring threat. She also contributed in the ground-ball battle and played with confidence throughout the championship matchup, allowing her to finish the season with 16 goals and 19 ground balls.
