About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a creative and fast-paced attacker with strong field vision. I like working from X, reading the play, and setting up my teammates, but I can also finish with both hands. I’m confident in 1v1 situations, move well without the ball, and always try to stay active on defense and create turnovers.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m very competitive and always pushing myself to get better. I stay calm under pressure and try to be a positive, supportive teammate. I’m hardworking and disciplined, and I take pride in balancing school and lacrosse while giving my best in both.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m an honor roll student and actively involved in Model UN, where I will be serving as Vice President. I take pride in leading, speaking confidently, and helping organize and guide the team. I challenge myself academically and stay disciplined in everything I do, both in the classroom and on the field.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership and communication skills through both lacrosse and Model UN. As a player, I work well with my teammates, stay vocal on the field, and help keep energy high. In Model UN, especially as Vice President, I lead discussions, stay organized, and help guide the team. I’ve also built discipline, time management, and the ability to stay focused in high-pressure situations.

Archbishop McCarthy is home to 2028 midfielder Ava Valdiveso. She has honed her skills since kindergarten and represented her heritage at 13 when playing for the Peruvian National lacrosse team. Valdivieso is aggressive when in possession of the ball, taking on multiple players at once and plowing through. She has shown great promise during the first games Archbishop McCarthy has played – managing eight goals in a single game.
