Ranked No. 16 nationally by Prep Girls Lacrosse, Ellis is a highly productive two-way midfielder whose speed can completely change the pace of a game. She finished her sophomore season with an incredible list of stats: just short of 100 goals, 60 assists, 130 draw controls, 60 caused turnovers, and 80 ground balls, demonstrating her influence in every phase. Ellis is especially dangerous in transition, where her speed, elite stick protection, and powerful pull dodge make her extremely difficult to slow down. She cuts with purpose, places her shots exceptionally well, and delivers feeds at exactly the right moment. Her quick feet and sharp changes of direction complement her size, while her defensive production proves she is much more than an offensive threat. She is a smart, reliable, and consistent presence who can be trusted in any situation.

If I were a college coach recruiting 2028s, I’d keep an eye on Avery Ellis. She is everything a coach could want and more. Her speed on both sides of the ball elevates the game of everyone around her, and her ability to make plays and thread the needle is clutch. Ellis is one of those players who makes spectators say, “Who is that?”

Ellis is an athletic and fast 2-way midfielder. On her dodges, she gets downhill quickly and can drive through contact. She is an explosive dodger and a good initiator to start the offense. Her overhand shot is good, and she places the ball well. Ellis has good vision and makes good feeds. Her tall 5’9” frame helps her when she comes in off the circle on the draw; she reads the ball really well. On the clear, she is extremely reliable and will run the floor by herself. Ellis has a high ceiling and great potential for the college level. A lot of colleges will want her.
