Colorado’s Uncommitted 2028s

From draw specialists to defenders who can spark a clear, these five Colorado players bring different strengths to the 2028 recruiting class. Here's why college coaches should keep them on their radar.

Calkins creates scoring chances with a mix of strength and quick, shifty dodges. She reads the offense well, finds space near the crease, and puts herself in position to finish. Even when she does not have the ball, she gives teammates a dependable target who can secure a pass and turn it into a goal. Her powerful shot, composed decisions, and leadership make her a steady presence on attack.

Irwin's impact starts at the draw, where she uses her height and athleticism to win possessions. She brings that same reach to the defensive end, getting into passing lanes and creating interceptions. On offense, Irwin can shoot with either hand and release the ball quickly, even when a defender appears to have taken away her angle. Her powerful, accurate shot and ability to contribute across the field make her an exciting prospect for college coaches to follow.

Hodges is a versatile midfielder who can influence a game at the draw circle and on both ends of the field. She won 75% of her draws during her sophomore season, including possessions she secured herself. On offense, her quick release, accurate shot, and off-ball movement help her turn those opportunities into scoring chances. She protects her stick well, makes smart reads, and brings the effort needed to contribute defensively, too.

Sherry brings strength and discipline to her 1v1 defense. She stays tight to attackers, holds her position through contact, and makes it difficult for opponents to get past her. She also reads passing lanes well and can turn an interception into a clear. Rather than forcing the ball upfield, Sherry looks for a smart outlet pass. Her physical play, work ethic, and leadership give her a strong presence on the defensive end.

Diaz can change a possession in an instant. Her footwork and positioning make her tough to beat 1v1, while her aggressive approach helps her pick off passes and cause turnovers. Once her team gains possession, she uses her speed to get open for the goalie and move the ball upfield. Diaz knows when to carry through transition and when to find a teammate with a pass, making her a valuable link between defense and offense.
