2028 Goalies Getting Calls on 9/1

The Class of 2028 features an incredibly athletic group of goalies, including these three lefties and two righties who each bring a different presence to the cage. These girls have been on my radar all summer, consistently delivering standout performances at top events and proving they belong near the top of college coaches' Sept. 1 call lists.    Brady brings the patience, positioning, and composure of a goalie who is always one step ahead of the offense. With experience in both box and sixes lacrosse, she is comfortable facing shots from close range and rarely panics when attackers get inside. Her movement is fluid and controlled, and she does an excellent job stepping toward shots rather than retreating into the cage. Even when she cannot get her entire body behind the ball, she finds a way to get her stick on it and produce a deflection.   Brady reads fakes exceptionally well, takes away high shots, and has the confidence to stuff attackers around the crease. She also keeps her defense organized and composed. Her performance for U17 Team Canada against USA showed that she can rise to the occasion against some of the best players in the world. Brady is a polished, well-rounded goalie who is never afraid to get involved and consistently looks in control.     Wood has been one of the most consistent goalie standouts at nearly every event she has attended. Her reaction speed immediately separates her, as she sees the release, explodes toward the ball, and gets set remarkably quickly. Her ability to stay engaged and repeatedly make saves gives her a commanding presence that is impossible to overlook.   At the Committed Games, Wood was a shutdown force who made quality scoring opportunities feel routine. She remained composed through extended possessions and never allowed one goal or one difficult play to affect the next shot. Wood has been firmly on my radar throughout the summer, and after delivering standout performance after standout performance, she should be on college coaches' radars as well.     Armstead is the type of goalie who can completely erase an offense's momentum. She is capable of producing phenomenal saves back-to-back and remains focused even when she is facing shots from different angles and distances. Quick stick attempts do not catch her sleeping; her hands react instantly, and she consistently finds a way to get her stick or body behind the ball.   Her impact extends beyond making saves. Armstead is aggressive enough to leave the cage and intercept passes, giving attackers another threat to consider when operating around the crease. She has performed at a high level throughout the summer's top events and looks especially comfortable when the pressure rises. That ability to remain fearless, composed, and effective in difficult moments makes her a particularly impressive prospect.     Overs plays with an aggressive style that allows her to influence much more than the shots coming directly at the cage. She is comfortable positioning herself farther outside the crease, yet she remains balanced and ready to recover when the ball moves. Her quick feet, fast reactions, and strong tracking ability allow her to stay connected to the play without getting caught out of position.   Overs also has a knack for reading passing lanes and picking off feeds around the cage. Once she gains possession, she gets the ball out quickly, confidently identifies the open player, and can initiate the clear farther upfield. She communicates well, directs her defense, and stays engaged during big moments. Overs is a true team-first goalie whose decision-making and activity outside the crease add another dimension to her game.     McGonigle is a fearless left handed goalie who brings an aggressive and confident presence both inside and outside the crease. She does not wait for the offense to dictate the possession; she tracks movement through "X," looks for opportunities to disrupt feeds, and is always a threat to intercept a pass or win a ground ball. Her activity forces attackers to think twice before attempting to sneak the ball through the middle.   Her hand eye coordination and quick reflexes allow her to follow the ball through traffic and react to late releases. McGonigle is especially impressive against low shots, where she refuses to protect herself at the expense of making the save. She puts her body on the line, attacks the ball, and has the ability to create momentum changing stops.
